February 12, 2004
The Kearsarge Trail Snails has had two successful functions in the last few months to raise money for our club and for the NHSA Easter Seals Ride-In.
Last July the Club had its Chicken Barbecue and most recently the Torch Light Parade, Dinner, and Raffle on January 17. Our generous Easter Seals Business Sponsors contributed at least 55 prizes for the Raffle and 52 individuals gave generously to the Club’s Easter Seals Camp Sno-Mo campaign.
Approximately 175 people attended the January 17 Dinner and Raffle. Our late longtime member, Manley Glanville, was remembered at the dinner and will be greatly missed by all of us. The first door prize at the Dinner was won by Joanne Irving and the second went to Cindy Soucy. Dave Heino generously gave his $50 prize back to the Club.
Several Club members attended the Easter Seals Ride-In at the Town and Country Inn in Gorham NH February 6 to February 8 where the Club was able to turn in $2,160. to NHSA Easter Seals for Camp Sno-Mo. We placed 4th in Merrimack County in our fundraising (out of 11 clubs) and 8th in the State (out of over 55). $93,775. was raised state wide. Many Thanks to all of you who made this possible! Club members attending the Ride-In were our President, Peter Bates, and Ginny Bates, Trailmaster Allie Mock and Gloria Mock, Easter Seals Campaign Co Sponsor, Tammy Mock, Club Secretary and Campaign Co Sponsor, David Karrick, as well as Billy and Beth Inman, and Steve Livingston with his family.
Peter, Ginny, Billy, and Beth went out riding on Saturday Feb. 7 on Gorham’s excellent trails. The Livingstons and 8 others did a 160 mile ride that same day. There was plenty to do for those who chose to stay inside including good eats, swimming, dancing, games, and socializing with friends both old and new. Segways were available to try, Allie had his photo taken on one. The weekend included a comedy night, two parades, Radar Runs, the Thirsty Dawgs Party, awards, a bonfire, and the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday.
The 2005 Ride-In will be at Gorham’s Town and Country again February 4, 5, and 6.
Camp Sno-Mo will host a cook out on July 24, 2004 and everyone is welcome to come and see the children who benefit from your generosity. Camp Sno-Mo is in Gilmanton Iron Works, New Hampshire.
See you on the Trails. Please Ride Safely!
